Every November the Sao Paulo Swiss-Brazilian School organizes its traditional bazaar. The event gathers the Swiss-German community and friends and is attended by numerous visitors.

Every year, the event is organized around a theme. Suggestions for each year's theme come from visitors during the event and from teachers and students during the school term. The best suggestion is chosen through vote. For 2008, the winning theme was The Brazilian and Swiss Cuisines. Many activities have been planned to fully explore such a rich topic, which offers endless possibilities. Among them, the idea to publish a cookbook seemed obvious, particularly a book representing the culinary talents of the students and school staff's families.

As a starting point, students, parents, teachers and staff were asked to share with us family recipes of typical dishes representing one of the cuisines being focused. Around seventy-five recipes, including sweet and salted dishes, written in Portuguese and German, were collected. Many hours were required to collect, organize, read and edit the recipes. The task was carried out by the dedicated school office staff, the Portuguese and German teachers, who revised the texts, the students' mothers, who typed the recipes following the pre-defined layout, and the kindergarten students and teachers, who created the cute drawings illustrating in the book.

During production of the book, all people involved could realize how hard it is to publish a book and how much responsibility is embedded in each of its pages.

Finally, after a lot of hard work and dedication, we are proud to release our Cook Book, available at the Sao Paulo Swiss-Brazilian School from November 8, when our bazaar will take place, exhibiting the typical cuisine of the countries represented by our institution's name.
